Da nutriente essenziale a feticcio culturale, le proteine hanno smesso di essere solo cibo.

Il cibo che nutre o ci distrugge

I sistemi alimentari sono indicati come i principali responsabili della violazione di cinque delle nove soglie critiche che regolano l’equilibrio della Terra, tra cui il cambiamento climatico, la perdita di biodiversità, l’uso del suolo, l’inquinamento da azoto e fosforo e l’introduzione di nuove sostanze chimiche come i pesticidi.

L’inganno del deconsumo

Nel Rapporto Coop 2025 sui consumi e gli stili di vita si racconta un’Italia che riscopre sobrietà e consumo consapevole, ma la realtà è ben più dura. Il “deconsumo” non è una scelta etica, bensì una necessità dettata dalla crisi. Dietro la retorica della sostenibilità si nasconde l’impoverimento di un Paese sempre più fragile.

Generazioni affamate: la fame come strategia

La fame e la malnutrizione nel mondo non sono soltanto una tragedia umanitaria, ma una leva politica e sociale, un potente strumento di controllo capace di minare alla radice la salute di generazioni future e, con essa, la possibilità stessa di autodeterminazione delle popolazioni.

Diabete: l’epidemia delle disparità

Il diabete di tipo 2 rappresenta una delle sfide sanitarie più urgenti del nostro tempo, con previsioni che parlano di 1,3 miliardi di malati nel mondo entro il 2050. Questa “epidemia silenziosa” non colpisce a caso: si accanisce in modo sproporzionato su chi ha meno risorse, meno istruzione e minori opportunità, rivelando profonde disuguaglianze sociali ed economiche.

La fame non è una carestia. E’ un crimine

Nel mondo di oggi, la fame non è solo una tragedia umanitaria: è un’arma deliberata. Usata per punire, controllare, sterminare, attraversa i conflitti armati come una silenziosa macchina di morte. Dal Sudan alla Palestina, affamare è una scelta politica, non una conseguenza inevitabile. E finché il diritto internazionale tacerà, milioni continueranno a morire nel buio dell’indifferenza.

Additivi: quello che l’etichetta non dice

Dalla produzione industriale all’uso degli additivi, fino alla distribuzione dei ruoli nella cura alimentare, il cibo che consumiamo ogni giorno è il risultato di scelte economiche, politiche e culturali che spesso sfuggono al nostro controllo. Ripensare questi meccanismi è un passo necessario verso un sistema più giusto e consapevole.

La malnutrizione che non si vede

In Italia, un paziente su quattro è malnutrito al momento del ricovero ospedaliero, e la degenza spesso aggrava la situazione. La malnutrizione colpisce in particolare le donne anziane in povertà, evidenziando lacune sistemiche nell’assistenza nutrizionale. Affrontare il problema richiede un approccio olistico che integri salute, genere e giustizia sociale.

Oltre i numeri dell’obesità

L’obesità è in aumento globale, con previsioni che indicano che entro il 2035 una persona su quattro ne sarà affetta. Si tratta di una patologia complessa che causa numerosi problemi di salute, inclusi rischi cardiovascolari, tumori e disfunzioni ormonali, ed è influenzata da fattori socioeconomici. Le attuali politiche di contrasto sono insufficienti e richiederebbero un approccio integrato che consideri le disuguaglianze sociali e promuova l’accesso equo a stili di vita sani.

Per una dieta sostenibile

Il consumo di cibo ha un impatto importante nella crisi climatica. La sfida globale del futuro è di ottimizzare il rapporto cibo e ambiente. L’invenzione della cellulite

Genderless, ma non per tutto

“Genderless”, “no gender”, o “gender neutral” sono le parole con le quali, sempre più comunemente, si fa riferimento a una tendenza che va verso una cultura di inclusione. Ma non è così per tutti i settori del mercato. Il marketing del settore alimentare pare insistere su una rigida categorizzazione che rispecchia ruoli e rappresentazioni stereotipate dei generi.

Il fegato delle donne

La steatosi epatica è una patologia che, al pari molte altre, non è neutra, ma può avere diverse declinazioni in base al sesso del paziente. Questa malattia, generalmente più frequente nell’uomo, può diventare predominante nella donna in menopausa, quando non più protetta dagli estrogeni. Il fegato delle donne è diverso anche rispetto all’eliminazione dell’alcol.
